We discovered Sarah James Photography (Ritual Unions) through Zola last December as we were preparing for our not too distant wedding. We first met Sarah for our engagement/wedding announcement shots and ultimately booked her for our wedding as well.
Sarah bleeds enthusiasm and her passion emanates through her work. Her energy is contagious and we really felt that she went the extra mile for our shots. For example, she hiked with us in order to capture engagement shots that were representative of our personal story, encompassing nature and hiking/camping which we both adore. Additionally, she made several trips to the wedding venue in advance to do preparatory work, including light assessments and coordination with staff regarding possible equipment restrictions.
Although we knew from our first interaction that she was going to be perfect for our needs, we had no idea that her work would turn out to make the biggest milestone of our lives even more memorable than we imagined.
Overall, we are extremely pleased and beyond happy with Sarah James Photography. She was professional in her conduct and demeanor leading up to as well as after the event. We received a product far greater than what we wanted and imagined, and she was able to deliver this with minimal guidance and short notice.
Upon sharing our photos with friends and family, several of them asked for her information so that they could book her for their upcoming weddings as well! The response from the audience is a clear indication of the passion with which she performs her craft.
Her rate was extremely competitive, her work was impeccable, and her personality was so exuberant that we we will continue to book her for future events. We look forward to utilizing her services again soon!

My husband and I were looking for a specific vibe for our engagement and wedding photos— and Sarah delivered it with the most care, kindness, and professionalism imaginable. Her work is beautiful and she was patient with whatever we needed. From going above and beyond (specifically, to a Waffle House an hour away around midnight to get the shot) to handling delays/hiccups/family drama with ease — Sarah is truly the best. I am already booking my holiday photos with her this month, and we just got married in October… So if you’re here, doing your research — let this be your sign that Sarah is your girl. As a couple who isn't very PDA or soft in front of others, Sarah James brought out the romantic in us and captured it all on camera! She responded same evening as I reached out, we got all the details easily booked and scheduled, and her follow through timelines are amazing. The photos she got of us capture our relationship how we view each other -- they feel like the viewer is getting a glimpse into a tender moment with us which is exactly what we wanted. She understood our vibe to a T (or a V) and gave us the gift of capturing our love. We can't wait for our wedding to see what she captures on digital and on film.
